Thailand ranks 60th on the 93-level ranking of travel freedom, with its citizens free to go to 68 destinations worldwide without a visa, according to a survey.

The latest Henley & Partners Visa Restrictions Index, released on April 11, measures the travel freedom that the citizens of each country enjoy based on visa regulations.

Thailand scored 68, meaning Thai passport holders can go to 68 places in the world without a visa.

Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom rank world’s number one as their citizens can travel without a visa to 173 other countries.

They were followed by Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg and the United States, with the score of 172.

At the other end of the scale are Afghanistan (28) and Iraq (31).

In Asean, Thailand ranks fourth after Singapore (167), Malaysia (163) and Brunei (146).

The survey assumes there are 219 destinations or territories in total. The maximum attainable score is therefore 218.

The list was created with visa regulations valid as of July 1, 2013.

The index was produced in cooperation with the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
