Flight Havana-Beijing: catalyst of Chinese Tourism to Latin America

Beijing, Nov 5 (Prensa Latina) The first direct flight Bejing-Havana, scheduled for next December 27 by airline Air China, will be a catalyst for the promotion of tourism in the Latin American and Caribbean region, it was highlighted here.

Businesspeople, diplomats and local and foreign party leaders, coincided in this capital that the new route opens relevant opportunities to the so-called smokeless industry and equally to trade between the second world economy and Latin America.

Gathered this Wednesday at the University of Economy and Foreign Trade for the Annual Assembly of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce, directives of the Chinese airline highlighted that the new flight that will make a technical stop in Montreal (Canada), is the first direct flight between China and the Caribbean.

On his part, Javier Jimenez, Consul of Cuba in this nation, started his speech on the subject describing the Caribbean island as ideal destination for its natural beauty, to promote the visits to the region.

He explained this initiative will start in coincidence when Cuba and China mark the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.

He underlined that the flight, with three weekly frequencies, will help the Cuban tourism sector that in 2014 reached a record figure of three million visitors to boost economic relations and cultural and personal exchanges between this Asian territory and Latin America.

With the enaction of this project, both nations will expand the traffic rights and will deepen cooperation in the area of civil aviation.

This plan has the advantages of lessening the flying time between both countries.

According to oficial data, between January and November 2014, traveled to the islaqnd 22 thousand 115 Chinese, an increase of 27.5 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

In that period, China rose to the 14th place of emitting countries of tourists to Cuba.

Previously, flights went through Spain, Germany, France or Mexico. Chinese do not need visas to enter Jamaica, Bahamas, Grenada and Isles Turks and Caicos.

Also, trade and economic links between China and the Caribbean nations show healthy growth and this flight improves the Exchange between both parts, according to specialists.
