CebuPac may change flight schedules for Obama visit

Cebu Pacific might reschedule some of its flights after the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines announced it will close Ninoy Aquino International Airport from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on April 28 and 29 for the visit of US President Barack Obama.

Quoting Cebu Pacific officials, a report on GMA News TV’s “News TV Live” said the airline may need to adjust its flight schedules due to the closure of the airport.

The airline also advised its passengers to be at the airport at least three hours before their flight during those days in anticipation of heavy traffic.

Earlier, the CAAP warned of possible flight delays “due to special operations” related to Obama’s visit.

However, in a “24 Oras” report, CAAP’s Operations Center chief Jo Lim said scheduled commercial and cargo flights will go on as usual.

The CAAP said, though, that passengers whose flight schedules will coincide with Obama’s arrival and departure can expect delays.

Meanwhile, the CAAP will impose a no-fly zone over the NAIA and the Malacañang complex as part of security protocol for Obama’s visit.

Obama is expected to arrive early Monday afternoon and head to Malacañang for talks with President Benigno Aquino III.
