AirAsia halts KL-Goa route from June 7

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Bhd will be suspending its three times weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur to Goa, with effect from June 7 under its route ravamp plan.

The low-cost carrier said on Tuesday that guests affected by the suspension of this route would be given options to help ease any inconvenience that might occur.

“They will be notified directly via their registered member email account, as well as via an SMS notification,” it said.

AirAsia advised its passengers to keep their email addresses and mobile numbers with their country code prefix updated in their AirAsia member profiles so it could reach them to assist them.

AirAsia head of commercial, Spencer Lee said the low-cost carrier had taken “very careful considerations for every new route”.

“However this suspension is due to our route rationalisation exercise. Despite this route adjustment, we remain committed to the Indian market and look forward to return to Goa in the future.”

AirAsia said affected guests for this route suspension could either move their flight to an earlier date before the suspension, subject to availability, or a full credit shell with 180 days vailidity or a full refund.

AirAsia Indonesia to end Bali-Kota Kinabalu services

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Indonesia will end its thrice weekly Bali-Kota Kinabalu services, effective June 23.

In a statement, AirAsia Bhd chief executive officer, Aireen Omar, said this was due to the stagnant market growth and insufficient revenues to offset the costs.

“The operational costs have also increased quite substantially for AirAsia’s operations at Terminal 1 Kota Kinabalu International Airport,” she said.

Following the termination of the services, the low-cost carrier said it would offer three options for the affected customers.

The passengers could reschedule their journey with the latest flight on June 21, 2016, depending the availability of seats, it said.

“They could also opt for creditshells which can be used as payment towards any AirAsia tickets or products and they are valid for six months or 180 days from the date of issuance,” it said.

AirAsia said it would also offer a full refund of the amount equivalent to customer’s booking. – Bernama
